Both companies have lots of other services and are number 1 in many different categories (IM, Mail, News, Sports, Entertainment)

Just because a company provides search, it has automatically failed if it's number 2? You can't compete with Google when "googling" has become a verb. If Facebooks adds a web search, the value of the company should drop because the users still go to Google?
