@all you guys who talk about dressing slutty: WTF? Rape is NEVER Acceptable. Women don't ask for it. They can engage in stupid risky behaviors (where rape may be likely), but that certainly doesn't justify rape. Lack of such basic empathy for women (even logical justification!) probably means you're all single, with issues and regularly visit prostitutes. Go you!

@pinafore: Thanks for trying to keep the Johns of valleywag in order. With the level of disrespect for women they're showing, they're probably cursed to be alone for the rest of their lives. However, I think it would be good for you to consider what if the accused is innocent, and this is a clever girl fucking up her ex-bf's life? He could go to jail as a sex offender and be raped and killed - wouldn't that suck if that happened and he were innocent? What do you think should happen to her if she's making it up? Do you see the imbalance in risks that each of them is facing? - she'll get slapped on the wrist, he'll be destroyed.

This YouTube spectacle will attract more attention to the case, which is precisely what it needs. Not Doucheywag commentary from sexually frustrated emotionally stunted dudes and femnazis. That doesn't help.

williamsapple

Infants are raped. Elderly women and elderly men are raped. Teenaged boys are raped. As Basha noted, these people don't get raped because of what they are wearing or what they are doing.

One study of elder abuse showed that victims were most often assaulted in their own homes (76 percent), or in their own automobiles (24 percent). The majority of victims were complete strangers to their assailants (79 percent). In this same study, one of the most prominent characteristics of the sexual assaults was the degree of violence exhibited in the offense. The majority (60 percent) of offenders seriously injured their victims; ten percent murdered their victims; and 43 percent savagely beat their victims. That far more physical force and aggression was used in the commission of these offenses than would have been necessary had the intent of the offender been simply to overcome his victim's resistance, is clearly evident. The dominating motive is clearly rage rather than sexual desire in these assaults (Groth, 1979).

Age is no defense against rape. Even women of advanced years are vulnerable to sexual assault. Moreover, from the data of several studies, it appears that when they are sexual victims, seniors are the targets of particularly brutal assaults. According to Groth (1979), the older woman seems to symbolize an authority figure over whom the offender wants control. Sexuality becomes the means through which anger and power are expressed and the means by which he can hurt, humiliate, and degrade his victim. The sexual assault of the older victim clearly reveals rape to be a distortion of human sexuality. It is sexual behavior serving nonsexual needs and motives. Rape is far more an issue of hostility than of sexual desire, whenever it occurs.

dd-toronto

@pinafore thanks for fighting the good fight here.

@DanLar75 I'm pretty sure a good way of conducting yourself is to not rape women.

The reason women get raped is because there is a rapist present. You don't get raped because of what you are wearing or what you are doing. You get raped because there is a rapist present.

1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will be a victim of sexual assault in their lifetime. So clearly, not every girl (or guy) spelling r-a-p-e means something else.

basha

The fact of the matter is:

GUYS: DON'T GO NEAR ANY GIRL UNDER THE AGE OF 18. FOR ANY REASON.

Oh, and statutory rape cases (17), according to a recent survey, are usually only prosecuted if the girl's family presses for it. That being said, 5% prosecution is abysmally poor, even by Florida standards.

jsavimbi

She said this: "...orange county fl dropped my charges I filed on my rapist because I was so close to being 16.I was 15 at the time. The law in fl is rape is 15 consent is 16."

Did she present this is statutory rape? She left out a lot of details from her plea, so this might be be an ugly breakup involving a crazy 16 year old girl who has a thing for older guys.

sample032
