As for whether I'd be putting another car on the road, it would just be taking the place of some other car I would have bought. It's not like people go and buy a Prius when they wouldn't have bought anything else, they would have just bought some other car.
Anyways it's now in the top 10 best selling vehicles in America (by quarterly sales) at #10, so it's not like it's only a hippy mobile.

One VERY untrue statement is that the 2008 Aveo gets 34 MPG. According to fueleconomy.gov, the Aveo averages 26 MPG, and the 2008 Prius gets 46. That's 20 MPG difference (from an unbiased source). That's better than most SUV's and trucks get alone!!!

Plus, as most of us tree-hugging liberals will tell you, the gas is nice, but the Prius is also rated as a SULEV - Super Ultral Low Emission Vehicle. It's emissions are way lower than the vast majority of vehicles, hence better for the environment.

The sign the guy is holding that was PSed to say 'he's holding the sign backwards', a minor thing, but I'm throwing this in to show the maturity level of the site. Who's to say the sign wasn't double sided to reach more people?

There are many other things in here, but I'm actually a little sicked by people that are too lazy to do some UNBIASED research. You get some political talking point in your head and you believe what you want to hear.

There's nothing wrong with driving a Prius. We're not all smug a-holes. Some of us actually care about the world, and though it's a small step, it's a step nonetheless.

According to a DOE study, there is enough excess generating capacity during the night and morning to allow more than 80 percent of today's vehicles to make the average daily commute solely using power from the grid.

As to your smug "question" regarding trade-in's, I don't suppose you considered that it puts a cheaper used hybrid on the market so that someone ELSE can retire their Chevy Subdivision.
