I worked with Shawn at a couple of companies. Really smart guy with good instincts. The kind of guy who doesn't like to deal with bull**** - My experience is that his focus has always been on building products that people like and use - not in the non-esscential garbage that so many other people in the Valley get caught up in.

Shawn is a down in the trenches product driven guy - that is where he came from. Best "suits" are guys with experience building products - and CNET is lucky to have him.

I worked with Shawn for a few years during the deBubble. I wouldn't label him a "suit". He's a good guy with big, creative ideas. cNet is lucky to have him.

I worked with Shawn on the Newsite launch team- he is sharp and brought a ton of fantastic product input around the search experience. Didn't strike me as an 'ineffectual suit'- I've pretty much got the lock on that category, I should know.

shawn rose wasn't at yhoo long, and the environment he dropped into was suffering from the overall senior mgt malaise afflicting yahoo. he also took on a bunch of assignments that weren't resume builders but were projects that needed to get done.

the allegation like "he literally got nothing done at Y" is wrong, ignorant, and not fair.

This isn't strictly true.

Josh's job no longer exists. Head of GameSpot is Ricardo Torres, as mentioned here ages back.

Shawn's looking after product development for a load of CNET brands, but has nothing to do with editorial stuff.
