Eh? This doesn't seem so awful to me. The press accounts make it sound like poor Sarah was completely obnoxious, whereas she just appears clueless and rambling. And while it's apparent the crowd doesn't like her, the exchange between Lacy and Zuckerberg seems reasonably good-natured.

I wasn't there, but this whole debacle got me to thinking about my former stand-up comedy days when I used to go on the road and deal with unruly crowds.

Ahh, the reason for the "bound" notebook is for IP protection. Everything needs to be documented; if there are any pages torn out, that presents a problem were there to be any IP disputes. Zuckerberg didn't mention a thing about it, and the fact that a "reporter" like Lacey that has been covering tech for so long isn't aware of the reasons is staggering.

c'mon nick, are you kidding?

that was hardly the most awkward moment by far.

it might have been about 5-10 minutes later when she turned on the crowd and complained 'i have a tough job', or a little after that when she subsequently asked 'can someone send me a message and tell me why i sucked so bad?'.

in fact, there were numerous awkward moments, and the one you show was just one of them. i feel sorry for sarah, but if you're going to report on what went down i think you need to explain to readers why the crowd was so unhappy with the situation.

sarah wasn't lynched by an unruly mob. she dug herself into a deep hole, and never stopped digging.

That was actually better-natured than some of the written accounts of that exchange made it seem. I don't think the crowd was being particularly vicious at that point... they're making fun of her but it's not like they're one step from booing her off the stage. Maybe it got worse as things progressed...
