I have MSN strictly for the messenger. NEVER used its address for ANYTHING and i get butt loads of spam!

Well, if you do, then you probably won't be able to access it - you have to pay to get an inbox that doesn't clear out when not accessed for a month or two. Quite annoying. I lost pretty much all my emails because I had no way of transferring them to another account, and I forgot to log in.
Also, Hotmail was down for me yesterday. I didn't get any redirects - it just didn't load. Seems to be back up now.

Ah, makes sense. I created an MSN Passport account billions of years ago, and recently resurrected it when I joined a company where most of engineering inexplicably preferred MSN Messenger. I was surprised to learn my Passport account still existed and worked for Messenger. Wonder if I have a Hotmail account I've never checked, too...

@matto: Only have a Hotmail account because of MSN chat and Xbox Live. I currently have 4,000 emails in my inbox, ALL of them spam. I have 19 messages in my junk folder.

Dude, you write about tech here and you have a hotmail account? Did it become retro-ironic-chic while I wasn't paying attention? Is Hotmail the PBR of free email services? Did Gmail get too popular and 'sell out'?

Someone hold me, I'm scared and confused. I started out mocking you, but now I just feel old and out of touch.

Well... NOW I got through. It took the first minute I waited, plus the time to type that last message.

It's just V-E-R-Y slow.

They need to borrow some servers from Google until that Yahoo thing gets worked out.

No.... I'm not getting through to mail.live.com at all and I'm not running Safari or OS X.

Somewhere in Redmond there much be a room with a thousand blue screens showing.

This is actually a bug with Hotmail on Safari. From what I've gathered, it happens when you try to save your login info on the site (save my username/password). Anyway, to work around this problem:

1. You need to go to the Safari Preferences, and select the "Security" tab.
2. Click "Show Cookies" and a window with all your browser cookies will show up.
3. In the search box (at the top right of the window), search for 'msn.com'. The list of cookies will be narrowed down to only show the msn.com cookies.
4. Go ahead and remove all of those (click the "Remove All" button).
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with "live.com" in the search box.
Once you've deleted both of those sets of cookies, go ahead and try to reload Hotmail. Hopefully you'll now be able to login. Good Luck.
