		    <description><![CDATA[<p>To be fair, I've talked to Kevin, Jay, and others at Digg at length about how the Digg algorithm works and they haven't had any qualms about sharing the info you listed above. And I'm not in acquisition talks with them.</p>
<p>The "detailed information" that they were given is pretty common knowledge among Digg users/submitters. The algorithm looks for "diversity," and penalizes stories that are dugg by what appears to be some sort of cohort, or a group of Digg users who always digg the same stories.</p>
<p>It's more likely that some clueless exec got a standard explanation of how the algorithm works, and he thinks it's exclusive information. If it makes him feel special, and helps in the acquisition talks, I'm sure Digg employees will let him keep thinking that.</p> <p>Mike Malone</p>]]></description>
