When I left my employer for the first time I hadn't been sacked I just threw a temper tantrum and said I was quitting, my boss was like 'How would you feel about me laying you off, I've got to reduce head-count by another 3 people, it'd make it easier for me and you'd get another months pay.' I was like 'um, o.k.'
Coincidentally I was back working there on contract four months later.
Regardless, my point is. Is it completely out of the question to think there are people as mentally unstable and irrational as me in the valley that would do something similar? No...
