Yahoo! - a day late, a dollar short, once again. I read all the stories of Yahoo and Ian Rogers long being against DRM, and lots of speeches and presentations by Ian mapping out the path to free MP3's, and a content rich, web-based music experience. Meanwhile, amongst all their talk, last.fm actually implements it, including a subscription service and useful API's. Mog integrates theirs with Rhapsody subscription service, Amazon takes ceter stage as a marketplace. Where's Y!?? Still talking, still negotiating, still coding. They already have a music infrastructure, integrated streaming radio, a store, and a subscription service. They should have been first, not late. This company simply can't execute...

brianj25us

Not sure if Y! Music is for sale. But if it is the Sony Walkman execs should take a close look. Sony Walkman + Y! Music + Everything else that Sony brings to the table = a possible true competitor to Apple iTunes & iPods.

I for one would love to come full circle to my beloved Walkman from my youth.

search.scientist

there's a difference between cool-ass ian rogers skateboarding his way to a music industry conference and showing everyone a power point that says drm is stupid, and yahoo actually negotiating with labels about selling drm-free music.

afriedman
