She knows her business and will go the extra mile for her department and all employees. If things are not going well for Yahoo HR, there are other factors affecting this.

mmckee

Key issue with Liby, independent of her other skills, is that she hired an HR team filled with incompetent and useless employees. If she cannot make good hires in her own team, how can she possibly build a strong team across Yahoo!??

exyhoo

It's always easy to blame the HR C level exec for, well, just about everything. But to do so is neither accurate or fair. It was obvious Libby carried Sue and Terry and Dan's orders out. What - do you think she wanted to do that whole forced Xmas vacation time off bit? Think she was in love with stacked rankings? Libby is hardly perfect but HR execs are simply the pawns of management and little more.

Mr.Spin

they should streamline whole hr dep... yahoo! anyway would have NO budget to do major hirings in 08/09 so why having worldwide more then 100 hr managers and much more then a dozen HR directors.

so hopefully SUE D will clean up soon, then i am going to be bullish for the stock again

sascha939

"defending her hapless (and might i add promiscuous) execs, implementing what she was asked to do "

Total copout. The implementer shares in the responsibility. So many execs that left Yahoo - that did lousy jobs- got enormous severance packages. Pay through the end of the year, instant vesting of options, extending stock option expiration dates years beyond their employment... That's HR's responsibility. A flawed focal (annual review process? HR. Pushing focals back a quarter several times. HR. Forcing people to take unused vacation over Christmas. HR. Sinking company morale over these issues. HR . The list goes on. You can't have the title and pay of being the head of HR without the responsibility. Whether she is a nice person or not is irrelevant.

oldyahoodude

she was harmless and only doing her job. she doesnt get points for change, innovation or integrity but she does for defending her hapless (and might i add promiscuous) execs, implementing what she was asked to do and overseeing staff growth by double...jeekers her predecessor had a nervous breakdown, she deserves credit for survival too.

safetydance

Libby is the best boss anyone could hope for. She cares deeply about every single employee. The statement that she is "unpopular" is unfounded. Some cowardly person who would like to remain anonymous created this rumor to create trouble. Anyone who actually works with Libby knows that she is very good at what she does. Running a business takes guts, intelligence, and whit. If you cannot put up with it, pick a new field. Libby has so much to offer in the field of HR. If this rumor is true, Yahoo will lose a gem.

peachfuzz

@sheriously: I have to agree, there. Unless their HR significantly more incompetent than most HR depts. in the valley, their problems lie elsewhere. HR doesn't actually contribute to the business, it just facilitates it. Look to sales, marketing, and engineering for the real problems.

sample032

we are looking forward for the day when she is out... nothing worked out what she did, focal, cultural survey, hiring and much more. hopefully they will clean up and streamline HR even more - not only in US.
