The last paragraph of this article describes Snyder to a "T"! At least Cuban puts people in place within the Mavericks' organization to allow them to have success. The Redskins have had no success under Snyder and he refuses to hire people who know what they're doing!

I guess the only reason Snyder was allowed into the "grey-haired, old fashioned" clique of owners is because he fits the stereotype more than Cuban.

You made a great point on why it's hard for rich techies to buy even an NBA team, and why techies can't practically buy MLB teams (2 word version: low liquidity), but the title suggested you'd discuss how it would chance the sport or the team for the worse. You mentioned that, but only briefly, and "new ideas" and some hand waving hardly proves you're point.
