@Owen Thomas: These aren't literary, but extending the definition to other creative media is probably fair. All three certainly held up human follies to ridicule.

The trope of Billy Joel imitations has been just as tired as the song itself for nearly as long. But yes, lots of people don't understand that recycling something doesn't automatically qualify as parody.

Parodies usually have to comment on the original piece in a way where another couldn't be substituted (Scary Movie comes to mind). Satire is a little more broad, and these songs probably fall into that group.
