Google's Knol is almost exactly like HubPages (encourages evergreen, topical content, shares revenue with author), so we've taken an interest in this development. But Google should know as well as anyone of the value of creating a platform and nurturing a community of writers. We've enjoyed over 100,000 registered users and we're closing in on 10 million pageviews per month, so the model does work if done right.
