I've had some good luck using www.enclude.com instead of evite - has what I want like full event details in the email without fancy distractions and clutter.

It's actually kinda nice to see a list of helpful websites instead of talking about why they all suck. I wouldn't want to read techcrunch though because it doesnt seem as honest as valleywag, but it's nice to see valleywag blogging good things once and awhile=)

I've never checked out Vimeo so I definitely will.
Great list, I'd include livejournal over myspace! Livejournal's whole format is geared toward being useful rather than merely social. I really prefer it, though based on myspace's popularity I don't see it taking over--but it's the same boat with YouTube.

@muzee: If not for Digg I'd be worthless to Valleywag, but not every blogger is as callous as I. Some of them need FRIENDLY traffic.

What about Crusher (crush3r.com) instead of Evite? YOu can load photos and have others load to the same page. You can check calendars before you send out, load video. It's super easy and it looks good!

I tried socializr once because I liked how they give all the important details in their emails, unlike evite. However, I found out later that this isn't really the best feature as it discouraged people from actually viewing the invitation and rsvp-ing...

Instead of evite, i use www.crush3r.com. It is a very simple, easy to use, and clean web invitation site!

very nice post .. didn't figure Digg would've been on the list ... I think a lot of Blogs owe their popularity to Digg; if not for Digg I never would've know about LifeHacker :-)

In the "poor choice of words" department, it's interesting to note that "Evite" means "Avoid," in French.
