		    <description><![CDATA[<P>@<A href="#c2556601">Figaro</A>: Well, this gets into some of the quirky traditions of Time Inc. At most magazines, the managing editor is responsible for the magazine's editorial operations, making sure stories and layouts move smoothly to the printer. However, at Time Inc., the top editor at individual titles is called "managing editor." It's a usage that's unique to Time Inc., as far as I know, and confusing to outsiders -- which is the reason, I believe, Quittner avoided its use at Business 2.0.</P> <p><a href="http://www.valleywag.com/">Owen Thomas</a></p>]]></description>
