Okay, be honest. Do you think that FSJ is, on balance, a plus or minus for the tech/web community? If you think that he's an overall minus, then I can understand why you want to out him--it would shut him down.

On the other hand, if like me and apparently thousands of others, you think he makes the web a better (or at least more entertaining) place, then I wonder why you'd sacrifice his blog for a few days of craven self-glorification. I wonder what you see when you look in the mirror, and I wonder if you care whether anyone respects you.

Sure, you can dismiss such questions with a glib, cynical remark about how it's all in good fun, but at some point you have to ask yourself what you're really trying to accomplish.
