Why does Google have to "celebrate" any of these occasions? The French getting their asses kicked is nothing new, so what's the big deal...

5th May 1862 did not impact the US in any way, shape or form.

They probably didn't celebrate Cinco de Mayo because it's nothing more than a day to drink beer. It has very little to do with Mexican pride or winning a battle, and Mexico doesn't even celebrate Cinco de Mayo, which is a dead giveaway that it isn't important. It's an excuse to drink, nothing more.

5 de mayo is not widely celebrated in Mexico... it's mostly a US-corporate invention to sell more buckets or coronitas and jose cuervo margaritas however- it was celebrated at google. there was a mexican ska band (firme), authentic mexican food, and margaritas
