I know that print magazines are under pressure to boost their online readership. But surely BusinessWeek wouldn't be so dumb enough to pay someone to promote its stories, surreptitiously, on sites such as Metafilter and Netscape. The business magazine, which has long had a weakness for online promoters, still hasn't clarified its relationship with Preachertom, a self-styled Lutheran minister with an unnatural enthusiasm for BusinessWeek items. Email inquirires to the hype-mongering mag are being referred to Kathy Rebello, the online executive editor. Her email is bouncing, and she's yet to return Valleywag's call. Kathy, assuming you're not off on holiday in Second Life, call us, already.
