'Is he a sociopath?'

Robert Scoble — from Uncleweed on FlickrBlogospheric fame isn't the real thing. But that doesn't stop it from going to people's heads. Hip young web video producers at SXSW in Austin were surprised when a slightly overweight man, with a permanently satisfied grin, interrupted a panel to lecture the room on his own experience. They'd have been less shocked by the droning heckler's behavior if they'd realized he was Robert Scoble, blog publicist for Microsoft, Intel and other grey tech companies. The Robert Scoble. An eyewitness report, below.
I was at a SXSW panel called "Production Companies 2.0" or something and Robert Scoble, who was in the audience, stepped up to the Q&A mic DURING THE PANEL (not during the Q&A) and just stared talking. As if he thought he obviously should have been on the panel and thus had the authority to just act as if he was. verybody on the panel and audience was thinking "What is this person doing? Is he a sociopath?"

It was the most uncomfortable thing ever. And to make it worse, his contribution to the panel conversation in progress was to add that he got a "six-figure deal" before his production project was even live. As if somehow that's useful advice for kids in the audience who are there to learn how to start a production company with no connections or cash.
