Do as I say, not as I do

When business journalists dispense advice, one does well to remember: were they such management experts, they'd be in some more lucrative profession. It should be no surprise that Red Herring, which celebrates Silicon Valley startups, should itself be struggling to pay staff and distributors. Nor that Business 2.0, a provider to entrepreneurs of news they can use, should fail to follow its own advice on regular backups of key data. The art department at the San Francisco business magazine had to redo graphics and page designs after a catastrophic crash of its servers last week, according to the New York Times. Here's one story the Business 2.0 honchos should have read, from their own magazine.
