Yu Ling, the wife of a Chinese dissident sentenced to ten years in prison, is in the US to sue Yahoo. The Sunnyvale internet company gave her husband up to the Chinese authorities after he posted what Beijing deems "subversive" articles on the web. For Yahoo, none of the options are comfortable. A bereft Chinese woman, camped outside the management building in Sunnyvale; a payoff and an apology, which sets a precedent for other Chinese users whom the internet multinational has identified to the police; or a principled stand against political tyranny which costs access to the world's fastest growing internet market.
