Chris Sacca's $4.6 billion hot-air initiative

Chris SaccaOh, the stories we could tell you about Chris Sacca, Google's puffed-up "head of special initiatives." But we think the facts speak for themselves here. Sacca is promising $4.6 billion of his employer's money on wireless spectrum if — and only if — the FCC agrees to Google's four conditions of "openness." The conditions Google wants to impose are arguably consumer-friendly — for example, wireless subscribers would be able to use their cell phones on any network they like, not just the one run by the company that sold the phone to them. That's a frequent complaint of Apple iPhone buyers who now find themselves locked in to AT&T's network. But it's unlikely the telecom industry, with its vastly more experienced lobbyists, will let such ideas fly. Which leaves Google off the hook — and Sacca, once again, in a position to hold meetings, make big speeches, and never actually have to get something done. His favorite position, or so we hear.

Head of Special Initiatives = Showhorse

  • I met Sacca once and had a 30 min conversation. He came off as a knowledgable guy but all of his stories lacked any relevancy and he didn't really do anything at the Google. He just comments on stuff.

  • let's see if the balding doughboy EVER makes Director at Google

  • Chris Saccadirtweed more like it.

  • Talking Google, you need to check out Adam Lasnik The Drag Queen...

    Igor The Troll

  • Well guys, I need to expand on my statement a bit.
Is Adam Lasnik The Google Drag Queen?

That all depends on his behavior. As a Google search engine Evangelist he was putting up a front and nothing more.

Recently I see Adam with a little more maturity, so maybe he has seen the Evangelical Light!

But the problem at Google is not Adam, or Matt, or Dan, or Chris. The problem with Google is that it is owned by Wall Street, and serves Wall Street, not the Gloabl Internet Village.

We as Internet users, developers, webmasters, SEOs have made Google, now Google telling us to go fuck ourselves...this is Just Hot Air!
