Jason Calacanis' target for today is Seth Godin's Squidoo. Whether or not Squidoo is being gamed by search engine optimizers (SEOs), the puritanical founder of the human search engine Mahalo has a problem with porn. Apparently porn has no place on the web, and search tools should not index the dirty, dirty content. Or is Calacanis just upset that a search on Mahalo for "xxx" results in entries for the Dallas Cowboys, Michael Irvin, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Vin Diesel, and "porn" yields entries for churros, Zahra Amir Ebrahimi, Jenna Jameson, and Tera Patrick? If Squidoo is being gamed by SEOs, maybe Mahalo could use a little gaming to shore up the relevancy of these presumably popular search terms.

Now we're talking! Five mentions in your first 48 hours Owen!!! This is a real turnaround since Nick stopped covering Mahalo.
In terms Mahalo and adult terms we're holding off on that right now because we think there is an opportunity to create family/safe search by keeping Mahalo in the "pg13" range.
My issue with Squidoo, if you took the time to read my posts, was not that they had porn but that porn folks were using it to *SPAM* the web.
Of course, I understand that you're no longer doing the journalism thing, and as a result are under no obligation to read the actually posts or understand the issue.
You've learned the Valleywag formula quicker than most:
1. find a random set of rumors mix with some facts
2. spin them into a great headline (accuracy is the enemy here!)
3. make a great "after the jump.." sentence to double pages views. (after the jump should be no more than 10 words of course).
4. put a correction in the comments
5. move on to the next drive by
Rock on Valleywag!

@JasonCalacanis:
1. Owen did not write this post, I did, Tim Faulkner. You might want to read the byline before extolling someone to read.
2. I read your post and I read the follow-up which says: "A blogger asks why Seth isn't talking about Squidoo's massive SEO and porn problems." and "If Squidoo were spam, porn, and SEO free--heck if it were SEO, porn, spam-light--I wouldn't even bring this up!" I can only read that as viewing porn as a separate issue from spam.
3. Thanks for the advice. As a new blogger, I can use it. I accidentally skipped 1, 3, and 4, but no matter.
4. How the hell is this "Note: For more information on the JJ Abrams film that was featured as a trailer in front of Transformers visit Mahalo:
[www.mahalo.com]" not *SPAM*?
I believe you ended one of your recent posts with: "Please, if I ever pollute the web call me out on it." Consider yourself called out.
Tim: I'm sorry, am I supposed to know who you are?
Re: the Mahalo link that is called a plug, and that's what Valleywag is all about: getting your ass kicked, but at least getting a plug out of it! :-)
Rock on and congrats on getting a job blogging for a low-life troll like Nick Denton--must feel great when your head hits the pillow at night huh?
@JasonCalacanis: Most of us think both you and Nick are low-life trolls. That said, your pillow is probably softer than mine Jason.
@JasonCalacanis: For the record, I'm the low-life troll Tim blogs for.
Mahalo's a train wreck. It's fun to watch, though! I've got my popcorn and beer and I'm enjoying this! Rock on!
Good grief. Sheesh. What can we say - watching such squabbling in public ...

I gotta jump in on this shit...how much is News Corp in for on the VC ledger, Jason, and what sort of vise are your balls in with Rupert?
