The acceptable face of the iPhone

Picture 338-1Oh, what a relief for Apple. Here are the first people to line up outside the company's store in downtown Manhattan, for an iPhone. The man on the right, Johnny Vulkan, is a creative type, with Anomaly, a hip web agency. I'm sure he thinks different. What are they doing with the first iPhone to emerge from the Soho store? The device, which goes on sale on Friday at 6pm as all the world knows, will be auctioned off for children with Aids. What a touching story! Too bad for Apple's spinners that Vulkan will be forgotten, and this man, who started lining up yesterday, uptown, is still the face of the iPhone customer.

Thank you for the "Think Differently" part. That's something that always bugged me about Apple.

Now, about my prior comment: "Most of the Mac users I know are either gay or still in the closet."

Case in point: a "creative type" at a "hip web agency" in front of the Apple store in SoHo.

  • The first-in-line guy is fine, but the really interesting guy is line-waiter #3. He decided to donate the proceeds from selling one of his soon-to-be-acquired iPhones to a really interesting nonprofit called The Taproot Foundation. Publicity stunt? Maybe. But at least a good cause gets a little something out of it, no? Check out his blog - [iphoneadventure.blogspot.com]

  • How embarrassing for him.

Oh, hardly. I'm sure the agency sent him down there and they're loving the publicity. If nothing else, they're probably bringing him sandwiches and keeping him on salary (email from laptop; telecommuting direct from Geek Central).

  • @sample032: Yes, 'Johnny Vulkan' and Mohandas K. Gandhi, you know, like two peas in a pod.
