Well, for starters, it would have clearly tipped My Life on the D-List's audience that the "romance" between the comedienne and the billionaire Apple cofounder was a sham, though since when has that stopped reality television producers? More likely because longtime friend and Apple education development executive Janet Hill is publicity-averse. (Though that didn't stop the pair from showing up for the publicity scrum at the latest iPhone release.) Why will we never know, officially, if the pair are truly wed?

According to Woz, the pair may or may not have married under California's century-old confidential civil arrangement, under which no witnesses are necessary and the marriage record is kept private. Only the bride, groom or a court order can pry it loose, so no fear of pesky gossips going to the county clerk's office and pulling a public record. It's fairly popular amongst the Hollywood celebrity set who don't want their nuptials to go out over the wire. Of course, to get said confidential marriage, the parties have to be living together. So either way, Janet and Woz, mazel tov!

<![CDATA[ Gavin Newsom selects Jennifer Siebel as gubernatorial running mate ]]> San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom is running for higher office again, so it was time for another wedding. The latest bride is actress Jennifer Siebel. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were happy to lend the Google party plane to ferry guests from the Bay Area, so apparently no hard feelings about that whole San Francisco-wide Wi-Fi thing.

Yes, Jennifer is one of those Siebels — her dad, Ken Siebel, is a cousin of Tom Siebel, the founder of Siebel Systems. The father of the bride is also chairman of Private Wealth Partners, which manages a $444 million fund. But Newsom might find it difficult to pry any campaign contributions from his new father-in-law, since the elder Siebel has donated only to Republicans in national elections since 2000, including George W. Bush, John McCain and Rudy Giuliani.

Newsom did at least convince the bride's family to host the wedding in Stevensville, Montana, where the groom wore a casual linen suit and the bride wore Vera Wang and rode down the aisle bareback on a white black stallion. By far the best blow-by-blow of the nuptials was from Newsom's predecessor at City Hall, Willie Brown. Siebel and Newsom plan to tour Africa on their honeymoon — no word if they intend to indulge in the hot celebrity trend of adopting a child as a souvenir.

Being in the family way might help burnish Newsom's image after an adultery scandal in 2007 and a public admission of the entrepreneurial wine salesman's drinking problem. The timing of this marriage eerily reflects that of Newsom's first in 2001, when the then-Supervisor wed Kimberly Guilfoyle months before he announced his candidacy for mayor of San Francisco.

But the couple divorced a year after he was elected amidst talk of a new "Camelot" couple rising in the Democratic Party ranks. You can expect the eternal flame of the media's love for Newsom to be rekindled along those lines, though I doubt the newlyweds will be posing in any oil-money mansions this time around.

With Newsom now fielding an exploratory committee to run for statewide office, longtime superfan and San Francisco Chronicle blogger Beth Spotswood was generous: "I give them two years, that's my wedding gift to Gavin." Which is just long enough to last until June 8, 2010, when the votes for Governor will be tallied.

Hopefully Siebel can continue to steer clear of commenting on blogs in the meantime. Siebel's first publicity challenge will be to show up California attorney general Jerry Brown's longtime partner and current wife Anne Gust in the primary, followed by Maria Shriver, wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. <![CDATA[ In a week of gay weddings, where are Derek and Orkut, Marissa Mayer's best boyfriends? ]]> Google engineer Orkut Buyukkokten, the one behind the eponymous social network, has gotten engaged to boyfriend Derek Holbrook, Valleywag's youngest-ever tipster tells us. The two are shown here, in coordinated outfits, with fabulous friend Marissa Mayer, the Google executive who greenlighted Orkut's site. Will the two get married this week, now that the California Supreme Court has made it legal? No word yet, but if Mayer serves as witness, we hope she'll wear something a bit less flashy. No one — not even Marissa — shows up the grooms at their own gay wedding. (Photo by Drew Altizer via SFluxe)

<![CDATA[ Slide CEO Max Levchin soon to wed Nellie Minkova ]]> Levchin and MinkovaHidden in Fortune editor Andy Serwer's stream-of-capitalism blog was this nugget: Slide CEO Max Levchin will soon wed longtime girlfriend Nellie Minkova. Minkova, pictured here with Levchin, works at Clarium Capital Management, the hedge fund of Peter Thiel, Levchin's cofounder at PayPal. <![CDATA[ Evan Williams fails to have a Twitter-free wedding ]]>
The happiest day of your life ought to be free from workaday entanglements. But no one, apparently, has informed attendees at today's wedding of Sara Morishige, a designer and former recruiter at Google, and Evan Williams, the founder of Blogger and Twitter. Two guests, at least, have already sent Twitter "tweets" from the event. (The couple is seen here in a pre-Twitter photo from 2004 taken by Williams.)

<![CDATA[ A gay venture capitalist ties the knot ]]> The Valley styles itself as gay-friendly. But how many queer venture capitalists can you think of? Here's a sign, in the month of gay pride, of change in the wind: NEA's Patrick Chung recently held a commitment ceremony with partner Matthew Burt, a church choir director. After the jump, more on Chung and Burt's Valley links, and a photo of the wedding party. Following a honeymoon in what Chung describes as "the Far East," the couple will be hard to ignore in Sand Hill society. Chung and Burt, known for throwing the occasional croquet party, are well-connected. Burt directs music at Christ Episcopal Church in Portola Valley, a hotbed of venture capitalists. Chung is on the board of wireless startup Loopt and is also involved with the NEA-backed 23andMe. 23andMe, of course, is the biotech startup founded by Anne Wojcicki, the wife of Google cofounder Sergey Brin. As a wedding gift, Castro Confidential recommends his-and-his iPhones. We suspect Brin, at least, can afford them. patrickmatthew_weddingparty.png ]]> Tue, 19 Jun 2007 03:56:25 PDT wagger1 http://valleywag.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=270032&view=rss&microfeed=true
