Music, photos and Facebook apps, oh my
The JavaOne developers conference continues at the Moscone center, but if Neil Young is still in town he'd probably ditch shilling for Sun to drop by the SanFran MusicTech Summit, running until 5pm at the Kabuki Hotel. Tonight, the San Francisco Flickr meetup will get together at their usual haunt, the Crossroads Cafe in South Beach. And down 101, two Stanford professors will present the findings from their class on creating Facebook applications at the offices of Fenwick & West in Mountain View.Got something to add to the calendar? Lunch and beer make the Valley go 'round
In an hour, Lunch 2.0 is being hosted at the offices of SocialText in Palo Alto. If you love wikis, or just free lunch, drop on by. Proclaiming 3 P.M. "beer o'clock" at the Thirsty Bear Brewing Company are the social application developers and data portability nuts at Elgg. And of course the JavaOne conference and Clickability Users Conference also continue in SOMA.Got something to add to the calendar? Send it to calendar@valleywag.com.

Secrets are the new transparency
The JavaOne developers conference continues Sun's week at the Moscone Center, while the Clickability Users Conference continues at the Bentley Mint. For after-work fun, Web Analytics Wednesday will teach you how to monitor pageviews like a pro; South Bay bloggers will hold a coffee klatsch at Coffee Society Cupertino; and PostSecret's Frank Warren will be speaking as well as signing books at Kresge Auditorium on the Stanford campus.Got something to add to the calendar? Developers, developers, developers
It's a busy day at the Moscone center, with both Sun's CommunityOne developer conference running until 7:30 P.M. and Startup Camp running until 8 P.M. Software company Clickability is also holding a conference down the street at the Bentley Mint, AKA the old Federal Reserve building, until 6 P.M.Got something to add to the calendar? Lost sheep
Don't know where to go tonight? There's no happy hour today for the Valleywag crew, but we couldn't leave you completely thirsty and plan-less this Friday: Startup Drinks, a social meetup for "startup enthusiasts" is drinking over at Medjool in the Mission. If it's weekend plans you're looking for, the Maker Faire is happening at the San Mateo County Expo Center. Meet the MacGuyvers, demo all sorts of trippy experiments and projects and bring the whole family.Got something to add to the calendar? Send it to calendar@valleywag.com.

Exclusivity is the new black
Invite-only tech parties seem to be the latest thing, but fearless Valleywag bash crashers know better than to take exclusivity lying down. Tonight, VentureBeat is having their soiree at The Ambassador and Baron Davis (of some athletic club called the Warriors), Cash Warren and Abdul Khan of IBeatYou.com will also be there. The Ivy Plus Society is launching in SF, a social group for young Ivy Leaguers (and creepily old alumni) and gathering at the posh Apartment 24. For those looking for a casually good time with no need to prove your upper-crust credentials, CNET's Buzz Out Loud monthly meetup is happening at Thirsty Bear.Got something to add to the calendar? Spontaneous drinking is in order
Looking for things to do after a hard day of surfing Valleywag at work? Tonight, Spontaneous Drinking is happening and the group is heading over to House of Shields to celebrate their 100-year anniversary (House of Shield's anniversary, not Spontaneous Drinking's). Diggnation and Internet Superstar are going live in front of an audience at Mighty while TechCrunch and CrunchGear are screening Ironman. Yeah, we don't get it, either. Although, stay tuned because (OMG) the event may be cancelled. Those waiting for Diggnation to start — or those waiting to find out if Ironman is still on — can go to an informal meetup at Chaat Cafe on Third Street.Got something to add to the calendar? Selling tickets to "best of" dinners are a real moneymaker
SDForum's quarterly series is on "monetizing user-generated content and social media" promises to be edu-tastic. There's the entrepreneurial meetup at Sandbox Suites — proving that putting on events for wantrepreneurs is still a profitable business plan. And the already-sold out "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area" dinner put on by San Francisco Business Times is a great place to find out about the perks you're not getting at your current job.Got something to add to the calendar? Web 2.0 needs to rest
The tech events are sparse today because, face it, Web 2.0 is tired. But buck up, as Barcelona is forming a "tech bridge" to Silicon Valley via drinking and networking at 111 Minna. Tired of tech? The Long Now Foundation is hosting a discussion called "Historian vs. Futurist on Human Progress." Niall Ferguson (author of War of the World) and Peter Schwartz (author of The Art of the Long View) will be discussing human progress as historian and futurist, respectively. Howard Fineman of Newsweek will be in conversation with Phil Bronstein of the San Francisco Chronicle at the Commonwealth Club tonight, book-peddling his latest, The Thirteen American Arguments: Enduring Debates That Define and Inspire Our Country.Got something to add to the calendar? Goodbye Moose's 2.0
Some expo's ending today and there are a few parties left, but where's the party for Web 2.0's pragmatists and outright cynics? Valleywag's happy hour at Moose's, where we'll be celebrating the last Friday at the San Francisco institution. Sadly, there will be no eleventh-hour reprieve this time. Come raise a glass before the signage finally comes down. Over the weekend, OAuth is having a hackathon at the Six Apart offices and Startup Camp is whipping your wimpy startups into shape.Got something to add to the calendar? Last dance for Web 2.0
It's your last chance to join in the partying for the Web 2.0 Expo because as soon as this circus is over the nerds have to get back to work. Web2Ireland will bring their brogues to the W Hotel while Web Mission 2008 will be charmingly British at the Clift Hotel. Amazon.com will be celebrating surprisingly strong earnings at Jillian's. And there's more that you'll have to RSVP for: Netvibes, Glam Media/Stylemob, Wine 2.0 and Musica Tecnomica. Guess they haven't bought in to Web 2.0's promises of media democratization and embrace of the open-source ethos.Got something to add to the calendar? Send it to calendar@valleywag.com.

2.0 parties to Twitter about
Internerds who drink together will blog, post photos, and Twitter about it together. If reading about last night's festivities via RSS made you feel lonely, here are tonight's chances for a do-over. The Expo-sponsored South Park bar crawl promises to be epic, with stops at Yahoo's Brickhouse, big booze with IBM at Jack Falstaff and 6 hole golf at the Six Apart offices among other spots. Conference badges required, so bring your bash crashing A-game. SF New Tech, Chi.mp, and Mashable are hosting Evolve at Mighty. Photobucket goes exclusive with an "invite only" party at Roe Restaurant & Lounge. Lastly, NerdSalon is back — test your skills doing the robot against actual dancing robots. The Web 2.0 Expo jump-off
How does one rest after the first day of the Web 2.0 Expo? (Answer: You don't.) Parties are happening everywhere today in celebration of having survived Day 1. Enjoy post-expo drinking at the Marriott, the Grey Area Beacon and Blogtropol.us launch party and at Harry Denton's Starlight Room with Beauty and the Geek. Ignite Web 2.0 is having a five minute presentation happening at DNA Lounge. And Kevin RoseGot something to add to the calendar? Send it to calendar@valleywag.com.
"Love 2.0" tonight, but not for girls who like boys who do girls like they're boys
Engage, the latest hookup site to spin itself as a social experience, doesn't want bisexual people. New users are prompted to decide if they want to be shown the profiles of eligible men, or women, only. Bisexuality may have gone out of style in the '70s, but what if you're just slutty? Even Facebook allows for wanting boys and girls at the same time. Maybe someone can offer the Engage crew a demo at their Love 2.0 pickup party tonight.

Pre-funk for web 2.0
The Finns, Brits and Germans are assembling in San Francisco for tomorrow's Web 2.0 Expo. Foreign Cinema is hosting a party for Finnish startupslooking to make Bay Area business connections. The Glasshouse is coming to San Francisco with Brits armed with charming accents for a chat with Bebo's Michael Birch at the uber-new Orson. Web Monday Silicon Valley — normally held in Germany — is having a meeting over Citizen Space. Social Media Club is having a book discussion of Now is Gone with authors Geoff Livingston and Brian Solis. Flickr and Moo are meeting for pre-party libations at Kate O'Briens. "Love 2.0: Socializing The Dating Experience at Web 2.0 Expo" is happening over at Harlot, an apt choice of venue indeed.Got something to add to the calendar? Send it to calendar@valleywag.com.
