How not to flunk Silicon Valley's bondage academy

The first dominatrix to take me under her wing kept her dungeon close enough to the Moscone Center, but the only domina to give me a formal diploma on graduation was Cleo Dubois, founder of the Silicon Valley based Academy of SM Arts. Having a discreet, private place to indulge in SM has drawn out a decent number of Valley guys over the years, says Cleo — men who want to play, but need to keep a low profile about it. "There was the systems analyst who came to me with his girlfriend," Dubois told me, who had been begging him to spank and tie her up, but he didn't know where to start. Read on for how to get schooled yourself — the stern headmistress fantasy is hot, sure, but you don't want to actually get thrown out of SM class. More »

A dot-com dominatrix gives reasons to pay attention during HR training

Not every woman in the Valley has a price. But what about the ones who fantasize about turning pro from behind their desks, the already successful women who would — just as soon as their options vest and they meet this quarter's bonus target? My first mentor was one of these rare women, a bullwhip hanging on the wall by her desk at the startup she helped run. She's also the only dominatrix I know who links to Valleywag. A brief history of high-dollar prostitution, Silicon Valley style

The age of the High-Class Internet Whore began in 1999, with a lady who popularized the notion of two-day, $12K minimums and favored Slashdot to the back of the free local paper for advertising. I've pulled together a timeline of the High-Dollar Hottie, the Valley-based escorts who followed her, and the new one who may be their legacy. More »

So I married a Stanford-brained escort

Stanford's new financial aid policy, had it gone into effect a bit sooner, might have killed the Valley's own Pretty Woman story: David Warthen, cofounder of Ask.com, married alleged Stanford Law escort Cristina "Brazil" Shultz just four months after Schultz's assets — $61,000 in cash — were seized by the government. From her postings on escort's clients' review boards, bragging of paying off student loans with her new night job, the IRS deduced she must have a lot of unpaid taxes: At $1,300 per two-hour "modeling" appointment, $5,000 for "overnight," and over 80 men claiming they'd been her clients — hey, do the math. After becoming her husband, Warthen was able to convince the Feds that the money was a gift from him, meant as "a benefit for the both of them". Talk trash if you must, but since they likely met on the job, Warthen is telling the truth. Carry on, Jeeves! (Photo by RM Studios)
