Lucy, a willowy blonde, used to work as a model. "The summer after my freshman year, I was home from school and my sister's car broke down, so I drove her to the Elite modeling agency," Carrie, a television actress, told Soapnet. How did the New York Post miss this? At any rate, a modeling career combined with a Ph.D. makes two things Lucy has accomplished that Larry, even with his newly trendy hair, never will.

Well, a good source tells us so. But hard evidence backs up our tipster. Newsom's public schedule notes the normally mayor had no public events. San Francisco supervisor Sean Elsbernd filled in as acting mayor. And I got a somewhat exasperated spokeswoman in his office to confess, finally, that Newsom was out of the country over the weekend.

Last year, Newsom claimed that he isn't particularly close to Page or Brin. And here he is going to Page's wedding. A politician lying? Shocking.

That means Page's celebrity pals, reportedly including Bono, Johnny Depp, and Leonardo DiCaprio, must have gotten off the island in time.The Sydney Morning Herald confirms our reports. A receptionist at the Little Dix Bay resort told the Australian paper that all its guests were fine. Good thing they made a getaway: The foul weather we reported, dismissed by some, has turned into Subtropical Storm Olga.

The Page-Southworth wedding was scheduled after the traditional end of Caribbean hurricane season, but the increasingly warm seas which spawn storms did not respect that timing. Page has never met a process he doesn't believe he can improve. In Mother Nature, he may have just met his match. Caribbean weather is unpredictable. For a group of people who compulsively plan everything, the Googlers must be losing it.

Rough weather has so far served to hinder paparazzi on boats, but that lucky stroke may now be turning against Larry and Lucy. Since the festivities are going late into the evening tonight, the couple and their 600 celebrity guests — rumored to include Bono, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and as many as three U.S. presidents — may find themselves stuck on Necker, Gilligan's Island-style. Good thing Page required that their passports be up to date and valid well past the weekend.

Before you panic, know that there were no cold-footed billionaires, no runaway brides. It's just that the celebrity wedding, widely believed to have taken place yesterday, is actually taking place this afternoon. Hope that tent is solid, as the weather forecast calls for thunderstorms. We were staying in this little slice of paradise called Virgin Gorda when this wedding extravaganza came upon us. Now we cannot go to Little Dix or Biras Creek, some of our favorite spots.

First let me tell you that the whole island is NOT booked for the wedding. Only Little Dix Bay, Biras Creek, the Bitter End yacht club and some private villas.

We haven't seen any big activity happening yet. Other than the at least 25 big containers shipped to the island with decorations, furniture and who knows what else. It is hard to believe that there will be 600 guests. Necker Island is pretty small to accomodate such a big party, and so is Little Dix. But we'll see.

Rumor is that Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonny Depp are some of the guests.

So, how is Larry and Lucy's quixotic quest for privacy going? Another friend writes in:

Someone said it perfectly down here, you bring in 600 of your closest friends, bring secret service down to check out the place, bring in anywhere from 15 to 50 containers of "stuff", book up every hotel room around and then they except someone NOT to notice it and take pictures, as they want to "keep it quiet?" "Keep it quiet" would have been going down to city hall in Timbuktu!

The evidence: Lucy's sister Carrie Southworth, pictured, is an actress whose latest appearance was in an episode of CBS's Rules of Engagement. She is married to Coddy Johnson, the field director of George W. Bush's 2004 presidential campaign. Johnson is the son of Clay Johnson, Dubya's roommate at Yale.

Coddy Johnson is also the godson of George W. Bush, according to a classmate at Stanford's business school, where Johnson graduated this past spring, putting him on campus at the same time as Lucy, who recently passed the oral exam for her Ph.D. in bioinformatics.

Larry and Lucy are hosting a reported 600 guests on Necker Island. Surely the couple could make room for her sister's husband's godfather — maybe even his dad. The presence of a sitting president would also explain the extraordinary security measures Page and Southworth are taking.

Another ink-stained wretchery has already called foul: New York suggests BusinessWeek, in running the article right before Google cofounder Larry Page's wedding to Stanford Ph.D. student Lucy Southworth, is attempting to cause trouble in their tropical paradise. It's all quite silly. Valley billionaires don't give their brides prenups — they give them funding.

-the whole island of virgin gorda is rented out for the wedding guests
-special times for meals have been requested at little dix bay and olde yard inn
-anyone who had planned and reserved little dix for a vacation have been called and told the resort is suddenly "over booked" and have been bumped.
-all ferries and cars are booked
-all new eco friendly furniture is being shipped in to redecorate
-three presidents rumored to attend
-600 expected to attend

Lucy Southworth will succeed where Larry and Sergey cannot. She just passed her oral exam for her doctorate last week. So at least there will be one doctor in the family.

That's former U.S. Vice President and current Google "senior advisor" Al Gore, who has a previous engagement in Oslo, Norway that weekend — he's receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. ("Larry Page allowed that, on the list of excuses, that was acceptable," Gore told the Chronicle.) Gore is hoping to attend via videoconferencing, destroying any pretense of this being a high-society soirée —Necker's going to be Nerd Island for the weekend.
