Tech's best workspace: Digg

When we first listed tech's 10 best workspaces, we downplayed the importance of design and amenities. The crowd disagrees. It favors beer. Digg's beer, to be exact. 1,505 voted in our poll, and 28 percent chose the social news site's workspace and its fridge full of beverages as the best workspace in tech. Were the poll's results skewed because it hit the Digg front page? Possibly. But maybe second and third place finishers Pixar and Google should have thought about such consequences when they decided what businesses to get in. Facebook vs. CollegeHumor beer pong canceled

The smack-talk inspiring contest of beer pong — known as beiruit in some quarters — scheduled between Facebook and IAC subsidiary CollegeHumor is off. Why? Because Facebook's PR and legal departments said so, CollegeHumor cofounder Ricky Van Veen told our tipster:
Facebook's PR and Legal dept said they can't participate. I guess that's what its like working in corporate America as opposed to a fun Internet company.
It's official: IAC's Barry Diller is the Web world's Fun Dad, while Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, brought in from Google to make Mark Zuckerberg's teen paradise more corporate, is Downer Mom. Cheer up, though, little Facebookers: Mother Sandberg did let you stay out late at the prom. Six Apart's offices seem pretty ordinary to me. Their meeting space is *tiny*. Googleplex's niceties are all about enticing their workers to stay at work longer — yeah, that's real HAWT!. Valleywag offices look like a dump to me.

But with its kindergarten campus color scheme, lava lamps, scooters, and ball pool, Google's headquarters often seem designed to to hide its most prevalent feature: gray cubicles.
