Rudy’s Pub, 117 University Ave. Cost of a Bud Lite: $3.50. Yes, it’s a bar. Yes, it doesn't open until 2 p.m. But it has free Wi-Fi, upbeat music, and plenty of space. Yes, it’s weird to recommend a bar as a workspace, but you can get a lot of stuff done without eavesdroppers and lookie-loos. And that 70-year-old guy drinking in the corner? He might be a former Stanford math professor with more connections than you can imagine.
