Hey Nick ,
It's Joni Mitchell,

Free Man in Paris
The way I see it, he said
You just cant win it...
Everybodys in it for their own gain
You cant please em all
Theres always somebody calling you down
I do my best
And I do good business
Theres a lot of people asking for my time
Theyre trying to get ahead
Theyre trying to be a good friend of mine

I was a free man in paris
I felt unfettered and alive
There was nobody calling me up for favors
And no ones future to decide
You know Id go back there tomorrow
But for the work Ive taken on
Stoking the star maker machinery
Behind the popular song

I deal in dreamers
And telephone screamers
Lately I wonder what I do it for
If l had my way
Id just walk through those doors
And wander
Down the champs elysees
Going cafe to cabaret
Thinking how Ill feel when I find
That very good friend of mine

I was a free man in paris
I felt unfettered and alive
Nobody was calling me up for favors
No ones future to decide
You know Id go back there tomorrow
But for the work Ive taken on
Stoking the star maker machinery
Behind the popular song.

I wish they would not cut the clip of 60 min. Some of these clips in their entirety are only a few minutes long

Wow, thanks. But truthfully, not really. It's not you, though -- I mean with anybody, except maybe for my brother. I'm just so shitty about getting my own writing done that I'm very nervous about increasing the procrastination factor by adding a project with someone else into the mix. Also, I'm kind of an anal control freak, and I'm not sure I'd be able to yield to another creative voice.

But I'm intrigued, and I am pretty good at less-involved editorial consultation (I think), so if you want to tell me more, bug me, please! It's grandmoffbastard@gmail.com.

Hey, meant to drop you a line earlier, but I just got a chance to check on this. The short story you mentioned in the comments in the Arthur Clarke post? I think it's "Darwinian Pool Room" by Asimov. Text here: [www.bjkmf.hu]

(I don't know if you figured it out already, but thought I'd let you know just in case.)

Oh, message. Why won't you display?

Moff on Jan 6, 2008

Hey, I'm not sure if your message for me was sincere or sarcastic, since I did rip on a lot of content this week but don't think I ripped on you personally (which wouldn't be cool, since I'm pretty sure you are in fact a real person with feelings having a pain-in-the-ass first week on the job). You're in a tough situation -- obviously a lot of commenters are pretty involved in the site, and the sweeping changes of late are making them more prone to lash out than usual. (And we're pretty bilious on a good day, as I'm sure you know.) Anyway, good luck, and illegitimi non carborundum.
