    " Oops, sorry got my dates mixed up. Applied Semantics launched AdSense (its name) in October 2002. Google launched the catchy named "Google Content-Targeted Advertising" in March 2003. Google acquired Applied Semantics a month later, in April 2003. At some point after that, Google thought AdSense was a neat name to use to describe ads it puts anywhere (AdSense For Content, AdSense For Search, AdSense For Domains...)."
