Reading the latest in the spat between Wired's Epicenter blog and Michael Arrington over the Washington Post's deal to syndicate TechCrunch articles and the ethical propriety of the TechCrunch editor's investments in startups his blog covers, I noticed that the post was in the category "ButtMunch." The latest post states that "We have nothing against Arrington," but the tag originated last week in a post that accused TechCrunch of pilfering a story angle related to Steve Ballmer's continued tenure at Microsoft in the wake of the Yahoo deal.
We've been known creative tagging for comedic purposes ourselves, but in this case, doth Wired protest too much? Perhaps so. Asked if "ButtMunch" was Wired's internal nickname fro Arrington's site, business editor Dylan Tweney said, "I don't think it has come into general usage around the Wired.com office. We can always hope, though."

IMHO Michael Arrington is the biggest rumormonger on the web. It's clear by reading his posts that he's no techie but tries to fake it.
He's need to get some serious sleep as well - He's got darker circles round his eyes than a corpse.
Wired is only stating the obvious the dude is a total D-Bag Butt Munch. He is no more a journalist than I am center fielder for the Yankees. a real newspaper has no place being associated with the likes of him and I hope they drop him.
yeah it's one thing to invite blowhards to give commentary on yahoo vs. msft and "what's google's next play?" on 30 second TV clips. It's another to invite someone challenged in ethics, biased beyond belief and makes no bones about it, enjoys disrupting his life to follow a rumor, and couches his friends to continue to bolster themselves (follow the stories: RWW, TC, GigaOm, Ingram, Scoble, Whiney Winer, Calacanis- it's so predictable this pattern to digg themselves, link bait and link love each other then get on tecchmeme then blog about how they are the #1 feeder for techmeme etc)...
...my opinion of the Wash Post just fell anyway after this. They're just trying to be "hip" without thinking it thru
the washington post just lost me after the techcrunch announcement
M.A. is not involved nor personally profits from the startups he writes about the same way that Dick Cheneny does not personally profit from the Iraq war. Yeah its about the same.
@bernielomax: Sometimes I call those "Mike Oldfield" eyes!
