When Google took on Facebook in ultimate frisbee, Facebook took the series 2-0. Now we hear a contest of beer pong — the drinking game involving ping pong balls, Solo cups and Milwaukee's Best — has been scheduled between Mark Zuckerberg's finest and the New York-based, IAC-backed CollegeHumor. CollegeHumor cofounder Ricky Van Veen began the smack talk early posting the above image to his blog. It reads:
Dear Facebook, Looking forward to Thursday. Your winning percentage will be even lower than your click-through rates. Love, CollegeHumor

Why do I feel like this whole web 2.0 thing is just a bunch of frat kids who got lucky by finding a bunch of gullible investors?
Feh. They'll probably use Big Reds, re-rack, and implement stupid ass elbow rules.
My company would destroy both. Easily.
What's wrong with re-rack?
We'd kick their ass too. Especially in the later rounds when drinking ability counts.
@TehWillis: I couldn't have said it better myself.
FadBook and the rest are big jokes. The ones that will be left holding the bag are the investors who were obviously high at the time.
FadBook employees look at private profiles for fun. There is nothing business-like going on there other than fleecing the VCs.
While I don't sympathize with the VCs, that money has to come from somewhere not-glamorous. Those are the ones who get screwed.
@tripmcneely: Nothing, the re-rack is legit so long as you only request it once. We're (JibJab) game for beer pong, Halo 3 or what have you...
Beer Pong... Ok.. Time to sell those web 2.0 stocks now maybe!
Seriously though, what the hell is going on? With $100 mil loans and $10 billion+ valuation I honestly thought they had better things to do..
over half the population of gen-y'ers in the western world use facebook at least once a week. Thats easily worth the $435+M already invested in facebook. VC's know what their getting...Myspace was the test run -- facebooks the real deal people!
@mleew77: Facebook is worth something, but it's not "easily" worth $400mm
IMHO Facebook's Icarus Zuckerberg waited too long to IPO. Tech markets suck ballz right now and if the US consumer gets worse, not better, in '09 advertising-driven business models will not be attractive to the public equity markets.
Cash(flow) is king, and a plateau-ing user base won't go far in convincing hedge funds who rode GOOG down to 425.
The only way Facebook gets a strong IPO valuation is if they spin off a very small sliver of equity, say 5%; demand from retail investors alone would probably support a valuation over $1 bn. That's when you short the f*ck out of it.
@tripmcneely: i never understood why so many people are anti-rerack. No reracks just mean that the game will take too long and everyone will sober up.
Where's this big tourney taking place? I'm an excellent player and would love to kick Facebook's ass
@mleew77: Go back to your marketing department. There is no way in hell that half of gen y'ers are logging on to myspac... I mean FadBook.
Of that small group, a smaller subset even bothers to click anywhere and look at ads.
actually i'd say almost everyone who's in high school, college, a recent college grad, grad. school, working, are ON facebook and use it a RIDICULOUSSSSS amount.
it's so much a part of our culture that people say 'i'll facebook you'....when they meet someone new for the first time.
facebook is the number 2 website for photo uploading.
there are more ridiculous statistics about usage (which is more than once a week- more like 10 times a day, every day).....on the website. check it out.
if you're NOT on facebook....
you DON'T EXIST.
@newzealand1: I don't think so. I don't know what kids you are talking about, but most do not want to be associated with the followers who share their time between myspace and fadbook.
better luck next time.
@newzealand1:
Fools names and faces appear in public places..
uhm, it's called privacy settings.
and now even high rollers are on facebook...like all the big guns at GOOGLE, famous celebrities (although a lot of fake profiles exist, but if you're keen you can find the real ones).....
if you're still anti-facebook in 2008, you have no friends.
not to sound like an elitist recent college grad, but it's the best way to keep in touch with friends and to let your friends know what you're up to.
it was 'ok' to be anti facebook in 2005, but now it's simply taken over.
get on it or get the fuck out.
