After more than a decade of trans-Atlantic antitrust scrutiny, one would think Microsoft would be, oh, I don't know, subtle about its ambitions to destroy a competitor. Someone in Microsoft's European HR offices didn't get the message. A poster advertising jobs at Microsoft Europe lists, among other qualities it's looking for in candidates, the ability to be a "Google killer."

Google Killa was always my least favorite Wu-Tang member.
I hear Jimbo's looking for a job.
Microsoft is in deep do-do.
I knew this would happen. Ultra-secret task force to kick Google out of business. Paramilitary-like operation teams hidden in secret bunkers near Microsoft offices. Working on the NEXT search engine... Well that was MY PLAN too.
Only they doing it back-ass-wards. They should have kept this above top secret. Like in 'Getting Real'- Go stealth than go ballsy ;-) Oh man. They should better hire me as a consultant before they blow it! D'oh.
This is more revealing than you suggest. The idea that Microsoft would kill Google is so laughable at this point that they have nothing to fear from antitrust regulators on this topic. If they were making any progress in their assault on GOOG, lawyers would be reviewing this stuff in triplicate, and that sort of things would never make it out the door.
now if they'd said yahoo-killer, that would be a little more telling, depending on when this was written.
judging from ballmer's statements and antics, this shouldn't be a surprise to anybody except google.
It is rather as if Justin Morgan took out a contract on Henry Ford.
Microsoft is delving into science fiction now.
Actually, it's an XBox 360 game MicroSoft if working on.
