The people who really matter — Yahoo shareholders — are angry about the way Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang handled negotiations with Microsoft. But there are angry Yahoo employees, too. Problem is, top Yahoo management doesn't seem to want to hear from either group. Watch this excerpt from Tech Tickeras Yahoo president Sue Decker dismisses Yahoo dissenters as people who are "tired and feeling late stages in their career."

This is the worst spin I have ver seen
Sue Decker is right! Anyone who was counting on Yahoo stock to help them through their doddering retirement is a total fool, and deserves the reaming they got when Jerry pulled his Howard Roarke ("I'd rather blow my building up than see it changed") act.
Young people are strong, money is replaceable, and it's vision that counts, not stupid material things like equity! Rock on, Sue!
She couldn't have done better had she gotten together with Yang and Jorgenson in rainbow wigs and white facepaint, driving around comically in a old VW Beetle.
Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the most haggard looking one of all? Ummmm...that would have to be Sue. She's lost her spark.
Shows how out of touch with the common folk Decker and the rest of the "leadership" is. All of those 'tired and feeling late stages...' folks don't have enough stock or are so far underwater that a few bucks won't really matter anyhow.
They're upset because it's yet another strategically bereft move that makes no sense to anyone outside of the inner circle.
Leadership steps up and uses criticism to improve situations rather than name calling and pointing fingers at their critics. This is more indicative of executives who are fully vested in protecting the status quo and thus protecting their careers to further line their pockets.
Isn't it funny how, only 2 months ago, Yahoos would post incessantly on VW. Now they've all all run like roaches. Yahoos cheerleaders, where u at??
Another company, like the rest of us.
@techgurl: GO YAHOO! YAHOO RULES!!!!
Oh, I meant Google. GO GOOGLE!!!
@Hopeless: Full disclosure: I'm an EX Yahoo. Arguably the best position to be in right now.
Sue decker needs to be fired!
"Yahoos cheerleaders, where u at?" Keeping their mouths shut and focusing on executing?
Seriously - the VAST majority of Yahoos wanted nothing to do with Microsoft. The ones complaining about it (especially here, of all places) are wildly atypical.
@achates: wrong
Yahoo is a ruderless ship. Anyone that knows anything about the morale there will tell you this.
The only clear, substantive thing Sue Decker has done in her career is successfully promote herself. That's what most politicians do. Why she's on Berkshire's and Costco's board is a mystery, but my bet is that it as something to do with having women represented on their respective boards and Decker's rising start fit the bill. Scratch the surface and you will find an empty suit. She's climbed her way up the ladder and now that she has clout, she's exposed herself for the fraud that she is. Now is the time true leadership comes in handy, so where is it? Yang is just a geeky engineer at heart, so I really don't blame him. Decker is the charlatan that feverishly promoted her own ascent, so it's high she either makes something happen or she should resign. $100 says she just shifts blame.
I am impressed that employees are telling them they are angry. They should be pissed. There is a total lack of leadership at Yahoo. The stockholders meeting should be very interesting.
excellent leadership shown there Sue.
just insult the employees that don't share your personal agenda why don't you.
maybe if you pay them as much as yourself they wouldn't care about a floundering stock price.
@achates: Executing on what?
@Yawho "protecting their careers to further line their pockets"
Exactly. Sue Decker is a fraud and should be fired. While she rammed through a large raise for herself as the new "President," the company was floundering without direction or accountability, and her bonus is guaranteed, unlike the rank and file. Disgusting.
Jerry deserves a lot of blame, but Sue deserves more. Jerry is a founder and can be expected to be emotional, but Sue is supposed to be the seasoned adult providing oversight. Yeah right!
Perhaps she's too distracted by losing half her ill-got millions in her divorce.
Sue Decker has blood on her hands. I'd love to have a job where performance was completely divorced from a multi-million dollar payout. She has one of these.
