"These caption contests suck. A new headline is never chosen." kthnxbye.

The Soogle shuttle roams around the 650 area code. With a name like that, we're pretty sure we know what it's looking for: trouble. Give us your own caption for the photo below. The best one becomes the new headline. (Photo by thincvox)

  • "These caption contests suck. A new headline is never chosen." kthnxbye.

  • FYI, this shuttle bus appears to be driving down Jessie Street (South of Market) in San Francisco, therefore in the 415 area code.

Or is that oversight a deliberate part of this caption contest?

  • This shuttle bus is headed southeast on one-way New Montgomery at the corner of Jessie. You can see Crunch Fitness awnings in the background. This is clearly San Francisco.

Perhaps this bus is picking up or dropping off the Goo Girl, Marissa Mayer...

  • No one noticed Eric Schmidt's plot to change Google's name, one letter at a time, to that of until it was too late.

  • is that one of those chinese mobile execution vans? i wonder if it's on its way to the airport.

  • I don't think that word means what you think it means.

  • a google search brings up this link:

    [sfbay.craigslist.org]

    it's a van/shuttle service?
but apparently the other links to the actual site dont work.

    i suspect a practical joke.

  • Interesting. Google does evil AGAIN. Why not subsidize employees to use the CURRENT mass transit system? What a concept get more people to use the current mass transit, and then there is more mass transit options for all. BART recently expanded their train schedules because of higher ridership. Guess what? That caused a further increase in ridership. And why ENCOURAGE people to live far away (ie SF vs Mountain View)? Facebook had this right where if you live close enough they give you money for rent (albeit its expensive vs Mountain View).

The shuttle is just another elitist tool that thumbs at the environment and surrounding neighborhoods.

@NotJulia: Ivy league grads do NOT mix with city college people. Not gonna happen.

  • If Google were really responsible, they would have built in downtown SF, or in a bigger City, like downtown San Jose. They are big enough they could have built downtown San Jose into a much better City.

  • Yeah, but neither downtown location is ideal. Mountain View has been the choice of many high-tech firms since it is a decent compromise between SF and San Jose, where most of the talent pool lives. It's at the junction of 101, 85 and 237 and thus has excellent freeway access. Plus, the city of Mountain View is fairly cooperative in working with businesses.

  • Recently released Double-click employees showed their displeasure by hiring a Screw Google (Soogle) bus to take them and their belongings home.

  • @NotJulia: good luck on getting anywhere not serviced by BART in under three transfers or two hours.

  • good luck getting anywhere on BART past midnight...

  • I saw one of these vans deliver a load of tourists to the main Google campus a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. 5 minutes later security came and cleared them off the property...
