Julia comes off like a completely different person than you think she is. I know you don't wanna hear it, but she comes off funny, self-effacing, smart.

hedge fund guys arent doing so well at the moment, but I think the critique is less about gold digging then it is social climbing in the tech world, an aspiration to become a tech celebrity, "famous" among smart people who do cool things. I think its more interesting then a grasping socialite who wants who is famous for being famous ala a hills cast member or a friend of paris hiltons.

I see it. Julia is Rails*: approachable, seductive, drop dead gorgeous, surprisingly clever, prototypes rapidly but sometimes bizarre behavior makes you wonder what's going on in the core. Also, there is a whole cottage industry of people who Doubt she's ready for the big time. That would make Leven Rambin like Merb, Rails' faster, less mature little sister. People turn to her for, um, performance. Mary Rambin is Mongrel, the incredibly useful Rails webserver created by a guy who hates Rails and everything it stands for. It's passive-agressive software! What's Meghan Asha? Maybe she's Capistrano, providing the backing to deploy Rails to every corner of the globe. Or maybe she's acts_as_ferret because this thread needs a ferret, dammit!

( *Rails fans have a saying, something like, Goddamit! Don't go comparing Rails to a woman, we actually want chicks to be comfortable in our community! Whoops, sorry Rails guys.)

I call BS on this one. She has no CS training, is not a programmer and is not a Tech TV alumni. She knows nothing about the tech sector and has a history of dating rich geeks. Honestly, I don't care how unintelligent, unattractive, she is and I don't care about a lack of talent and choice in friends. That is none of my business.

I did watch the clip. I noticed how she said she has "never dated" a hedge fund mangager. This is my point exactly.

I have a hard time beliving a hedge fund mangager, investment banker or anyone sharp enough to make it on Wall St. would date her.

She likes the sleezy politicians, because they are sleezy, and the geeky tech guys, because they are geeky. Smart, polished, respectable finance guys smell this skank a mile away...and run. This is what those types of men call a liability. I'd love to see this airhead 10 years from now. She is going to be a sad mess. Beauty fades, stupidity stays.
