Thomas Athans, husband of Senator Debbie Stabenow, got caught in a prostitution bust through a standard route: He went with a new girl, blowing the discreet cover he'd gotten before. So how does a nice guy like you get the regular attention of a working woman? It's actually easier than keeping up a civilian relationship.
- Be verifiable. If she asks for your cell phone number, the name of your hotel, or to be put through to your work line via switchboard, do it. She only needs to convince herself you're for real once. The smoother the process the first time, the more likely she is to trust you for future bookings.
- Be memorable. Mention something on the date itself that makes you stand out. Did you grow up overseas? Leave a successful job to do something you like better? Have a thing for an obscure author, dessert item, or body part? This — not your name — is how she'll recall you for date number two.
- Be reliable. Really, it doesn't matter how much you tip so much as that you do it every time. Likewise, schedule with about the same amount of notice — a day, two days, a week — to help the girl whose calendar spans two or three lives (work, sex work, school ...). And it's good if the sex is predictable, too. In fact, I think it's sweet.
