We reported Google layoffs at DoubleClick would start yesterday, but they only began today. Why? A DoubleClick employee said that Google pushed the cuts back "because yesterday was April Fools' Day." Ah, make the peons wait a day while Larry and Sergey have their fun. A quaintly botched approximation of mercy, no doubt. Today, our source tells us: "People are getting calls and start crying when they are told that are being let go." Would they have laughed if they'd been told yesterday?

Great company
Crying over a spyware house like DoubleClick? Fuck all you DoubleClick folks for tracking me all these years. I hope you all get what you deserve.
I just registered specifically so I can respond to the comment by "categorically".
Aside from being inflammatory and, quite bluntly, wrong, you obviously have no concept of who is actually tracking you. DoubleClick at it's peak didn't have the resources to track your actions beyond a jsessions. Google on the other hand uses all of it's software and products to not only track you (both via cookie and cookieless) but, to warehouse everything they track about you.
If you didn't like DoubleClick because they tossed some stupid cookie on you, then you always had the option to turn cookies off or delete cookies. Regardless, you should be hating Google for fulfilling the paranoia you've assigned to DCLK.
Ha! Categorically, you have no concept of what you're talking about. Did you know that Google really does track you and that they warehouse the info they collect about you? Get a grip.
@categorically: Right on. Bottom feeders like these spyware gangs deserve no sympathy.
@categorically: I'm tracking you on the internet, RIGHT NOW!
categorically: websites have to pay the bills too...you could always turn your cookies off.
