Yahoo CFO announces faux partnership with Google

After Valleywag reported that Yahoo would shut off its shuttle bus service Yahoo CFO Blake Jorgensen allegedly told employees "Don't believe everything you read in Valleywag, but yes, we are cutting off the shuttles." Hiring managers have since told new recruits the buses are here to stay. In an April Fools' stunt, Jorgensen outlined a new plan for getting Yahoos to work. Check out the clip: It's something to do with Google and "locking arms with colleagues to appear larger to oncoming traffic." If only Jorgensen were as creative in coming up plans to win over Wall Street.

  • seriously, why don't these people spend time on their jobs not on inane attempts at humor

OK, that is basically an invitation for his workforce to seek employment at Google, isn't it? He describes the great food, the great transportation... How is that funny? It's like when Uncle Milty put on the dress. The joke reveals a lot more about Blake's mindset than I really care to fathom.

Instead of dreaming about Google employment, why don't you go make "Today's Top Searches" work, Blake. I don't really think Teri Gar is number 4, OK? Seriously, have you even visited your site?

  • I just got the wierdest feeling of deja vu.

Now that I think about it, I think the Teri Garr thing is actually supposed to be a joke. Along with "Today's Top Searches: 9. Food Stamps".

That's how far Yahoo's standards have fallen; it's now OK to make fun of poor people. Bravo Jerry, bravo!

  • You guys practically make it up as you go along.

'After Valleywag reported that Yahoo would shut off its shuttle bus service Yahoo CFO Blake Jorgensen allegedly told employees "Don't believe everything you read in Valleywag, but yes, we are cutting off the shuttles."'

Back when you first published that 'alleged' comment by Blake you were corrected in multiple comments to the story. As I too was at the meeting I can testify he did not say 'yes. we are cutting off the shuttles'. He said 'no we at not cutting off the shuttles.'

'Hiring managers' only agreed with what he said and what has subsequently been borne out. I take one of those shuttles every day and the schedule has not changed.

True satire needs to have some basis in fact. Its just boring otherwise.

@colmanstephenson: Let me draw the more obvious conclusion here, since you shy away from it: You can't believe anything Jorgensen's reported to have said. Cleverer Yahoo investors figured that out some time ago.

  • All I could think was...go Google - talk about backfiring humor. Lay (it) off!

  • I agree. Wow. If the senior management spent as much time figuring out how to turn the company around, they might be in a better position instead of a failing one. Ho hum. I suppose nice little stock options and bonuses will keep them occupied.
