Whatever happened to Andrew Conru, the porn baron of Palo Alto? After selling Various Inc., the parent company of X-rated singles site Adult FriendFinder, to Penthouse for $500 million in December, he's getting his personal life in order, commenter rumourone informs us. He's reportedly still working at Various, but planning his departure. (Will Penthouse disclose this fact when it files to go public, largely on the strength of Conru's Web businesses?) Also, he's engaged to a "devout Lutheran" named Lois. Ironic, given his porn profiteering? Hardly. Conru also launched — and sold along with FriendFinder — a religious social network, BigChurch.com, where he supposedly met Lois. Update: Conru has written in to deny the Lois story. Andrew is doing well. He feels a little tramatized by the adult industry-imagine the hours he has worked and imagine the effect those images have had on his mental state.He is spending time evaluating his new life, its new phase, and enjoying the simple things he once enjoyed. Andrew reports that he has found his "quintessential great find", and is very happy.

I mean really, do you expect us to believe that a guy who just sold his online porn empire to Penthouse for $500M is now marrying a "not very attractive" "devout Lutheran" who has chidren from "4 previous marriages". family of 16...ya right..i seriously doubt a guy worth 500 mil will marry some uglyass middleage woman with 14 kids already.
Knowing Conru's past business practices (Ferguson v. Friendfinders, Inc., San Francisco County Superior Court No. 307309, 2000), my guess is he's up to something. I know not what. Possibly mopping up his image for a political career?

UPDATE! Correction! Breaking News Just in! I got part of the story wrong. See, the guy who gives me the information, his name is Chris, he lives under the San Francisco Bridge there. He has a speach impediment.
I misunderstood what he said. HE didn't say she had been married four times. He said she had been married "before this time." He didn't say they were going to have 16 kids, he said 16 fish. And last but not least, he said it was not that he loved her for her "innards", he said they were "nerds."
She is a cutie though, he sent me a few photos of them together. Just wanted to wish Andrew and Lois a happy life together. Congrats to the two of you!!!!

Come on: going heavily Born Again is nothing new. It's a classic milestone of ex-pornsters, both on the production side and in front of the camera. It can be a very conflicted occupation, once the realization sets in that your sanity actually has a half-life.
