Last week, Digg CEO Jay Adelson wasted no time debunking rumors that Google, Microsoft and two media companies were bidding $200 million or more to buy the social news site. It's too bad, because last week would have been a good time for Adelson and Digg cofounder Kevin Rose to sell. According to metrics firm Hitwise, traffic Yahoo's Digg competitor, Buzz, sends to news and media sites nearly caught up with the traffic Digg sends in just one month.

Why would Google, or Microsoft want to acquire Digg? -
Yahoo are proving that they can catch Digg in terms of usage in next to no time. Microsoft and Google could/would do the same.
I really dont see a $50 million business here, yet alone the $200 million sought.
It's ok... that means that Yahoo buzz is now also worth $200M. That's how you create value! Good job Yahoo!
digg is worth at least as much as bear stearns.
Take a look at the top stories on each.. its obvious they're not competing in the same space for user's...
Digg isn't a news site.. its like an aggregate of Reuters "Oddly Enough" and The Onion.
Digg is a feature not a company. They will either get bought or go out of business. There's no in between.
bear stearns is now how we measure FAIL. i for one think digg is worth half of a BSC.
Dig is a user-submitted content posting adwords webpage.
$200 million huh? Whatever...
Yahoo Buzz, I say, ehh. not so pretty. I think the traffic is from people interested in what the newest and greatest is.
How is buzz.yahoo.com different from Newsvine?
@Tator Tot: I think your tater is half-baked (i.e. I didn't understand the words coming out of your fingers). Are you dissing Buzz or Digg?
I'd rather have the Yahoo "firehose" of non-techie users aimed at a buzz'd story than the sarcastic, cheap-ass, ad-blocking Digg brigade any day.
