Why is this seen as unreasonable and entitled? There's no job security anymore today, so taking a salaried job is a sucker's bet - there's nothing to gain and everything to lose. Either you go with a company that will offer you a piece of the upside, or you start your own business. Otherwise you're just trading away your time to an employer who's unlikely to show you any loyalty when times get hard.
Jesus Christ, that title reads like I wrote this. Throw in a still from V for Vendetta and a NIN soundtrack and I'm sure I posted this at some point.
