"I think the Google logo is childish and ugly," Jeff Veen just said at a SXSW panel. Many designers share Veen's opinion. It's notable only because Veen is in charge of user-interface design at Google. Are we going to see a revamp of the logo? Unlikely, if only because there's so many billions of dollars of brand value attached to the current ugly, childish version.

Its always something, isn't it?

The ugly, childish version matches my Elmer Fudd settings. I'm Feewing Wucky...
Let's hope that Jeff had sufficient class to tell Ruth Kedar first, in person, that he thought her work sucked, before he told the world.
yawn. head of user interface design? what interface? jeff don't fuck with the logo, and if you want to truly be creative and design cool UI's go work somewhere else. But you won't because you probably get a huge rush out of being a big blow hard at events like the one referenced.
Meh. Jeffrey Veen is a good designer, with good taste - OF COURSE he thinks the logo looks ugly - because it does.
Good thing the goog hired him, instead of my fifth grade arts and crafts-teacher who loved the logo and set all her best work in Comic Sans, I say... ;)
mm msybe he needs to work some where like akqa
I don't know... but I like the current simplistic design... like the Nike's swoosh.
Yep, ugly and childish. Kinda like the Simpsons. Must be a drag to have a universally recognized brand worth bazillions of dollars.
