Search engine marketer Efficient Frontier clients spent just 7 percent more on Google in January 2008 than they did in January 2007. SAI's Henry Blodget points out that since Google grew 40 percent from December 2006 to December 2007, Efficient Frontier's numbers signal a "major slowdown." Which is basically what he said after ComScore released numbers suggesting paid clicks were down in January. But then SearchIgnite said its clients' clicks were up. And then ComScore attempted to frame its numbers less pessimistically. I say somebody calls Google customer service to complain about the confusion.
