Are there any other suitors for Yahoo? Not really, according to CNBC. They shoot down a number of potential buyers including IAC, Time Warner, and News Corp. The pundits posit AT&T as the only possible mate. Henry Blodget pours water on that theory too. He talked to a "senior executive" at Microsoft who says "AT&T encouraged us to make the bid. They have no interest in buying Yahoo themselves." GIven the huge premium Microsoft is offering, they may run away with Yahoo without a fight.

The CNBC regulars and analysts are so shallow, and offer no depth of insight on any topic you care to mention.
And the lot of them seem to think that driving the Fed discount rate to 0% would be a good thing.
Not one of the CNBC regulars has a handle, at all, on the cultural ramifications or the financial dynamics of such a historically important acquisition.
@abmw: I'm not sure I'd go quite that far. But of course traders would want a 0% fed rate at the moment. January was the worst month of trade in 16 years!
I will however agree with anyone that says almost anything negative (professionally) about CNBC's 'Media & Technology Editor' Dennis Kneale (pictured above).
My problem isn't that he's opinionated, It's that almost everything he's quoted as saying either turns out to be misleading or just plain wrong.
He often gets proved wrong on air and just yells over the other contributors.
CNBC's Silicon Valley Bureau chief 'Jim Goldman' is considerably better, however it's clear he gets most of his news off Valleywag, Alleyinsider & TechCrunch.
Still I'd take a Gossip Site aggregate over Dennis any day of the week!
What about Softbank? They already own Yahoo Japan, and are doing a great job; might as well let them buy the rest. Besides, it might be a foot in the door for other things (yes, I want Softbank cellphones in America).
