The popping of the real-estate bubble is nowhere to be seen in San Francisco — at least not in neighborhoods within walking distance of a Google shuttle. Curbed reports that two Googlers, Arielle Reinstein and Todd Jackson, bought the 4-bedroom house, listed at $2.195 million.
The sale came after quite the bidding war: The Victorian reportedly drew 12 offers, and Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal was even rumored to be interested. Curbed debunked the Gyllenhaal rumor, but got a basic fact wrong about the buyers: Reinstein and Jackson are product managers, not "executives," at Google. Why the mistake? I suppose it's hard to believe that run-of-the-mill Googlers could afford such an expensive house. But that just reflects the topsy-turvy reality of Silicon Valley's stock-option lottery.
