Robert Scoble is putting advertisements on his blog starting on or after March 3, when his new online-video channel with Fast Company launches. We spoke to Scoble, who's currently attending the Davos Forum in Switzerland.
Yes, I've been anti-ads in the past. I agree with Dave Winer that more money can be made around the blog than with it. Fast Company wanted to try it so we're going to try it. I've never needed to put ads up in the past.TechCrunch's Michael Arrington says that this is a "financial conflict of interest." Come on, Michael. How many ads do you have on your site? How many advertisers do you fellate in your posts? Let's not be disingenuous here. You don't get to make fun of Scoble. That's our job. (Photo by Robert Scoble)

Come on, you're the one being disingenous by misrepresenting the TC post. Arrington's calling out Scoble not because he's putting ads on his site, but because Scoble's been so self-righteous about ads on blogs in the past.
Nobody cares but you.
The words "Hey, the man's gotta eat" have never been more apt.
I think Scoble's primary draw has always been his youthful idealism. One way or another, that will have to be replaced by something else if he wants to keep his "brand" viable. That tie matches the sideburns.
The punditocracy is full of "specialists" with no technical background. They are celebrities and themselves consumers of technology, not experts in it. Society seems to have a need for a certain number of these individuals. Who can blame those who have had some success at it for milking the system.
My advice: Don't spend it all in one place.
I've dealt with Fast Company in the past and I believe him when he says it's their idea. God knows, they're not raking it in on the newsstands lately.
The only SMART, productive use of ads I've seen is Guy Kawasaki's; he doesn't advertise anything he doesn't get money or benefits from, things he's directly associated with. He knows better than to lose control of the conversation on his own blog. Smart boy.
Krispy Kreme will probably interested in reaching their core demographic. Fat guys that video blog.
Scoble just killed himself with this move. What is he thinking. Fastcompany is already in the deadpool aren't they?
Anyway can't wait to see what Scoble does next. Scoble's a loser
I just wonder what the hell Shimon Peres must be thinking in this photo.....
"eh, who is this fellow, and why the hell is he showing the Peace sign?!"
Excellent.
