PayPal cofounder, early Facebook investor and noted Objectivist Peter Thiel endorsed Ron Paul, the Republican presidential candidate, late last month, according to the candidate's website. Ron Paul, you'll recall, is the candidate known for his taste in blimps as well as for his plans to withdraw troops from Iraq and dismantle government agencies such as the IRS and the FDA. Paul has also become known for a series of newsletters he and his staff published, ranting against the "black agenda." What's the black agenda? It's what caused the 1992 L.A. riots, of course!
An old Ron Paul newsletter blamed the looting during the riots on the following:
Civil rights, quotas, mandated hiring preferences, set-asides for government contracts, gerrymandered voting districts, black bureaucracies, black mayors, black curricula in schools, black tv shows, black tv anchors, hate crime laws, and public humiliation for anyone who dares question the black agenda. Now, the Paul campaign will tell you the candidate did not write all the articles for his newsletters. In fact, it's true that most of the articles in the newsletters are without bylines. Except for, you know, the name "Ron Paul" in the masthead. So, a question for Thiel: Care to elaborate, on Martin Luther King Day, exactly why you're endorsing Paul?

He doesn't fly his own blimp, either. And what a symbol for the Republican party--ponderous, slow, a 1930's idea that's been surpassed by modern technology, a big bag of gas. Who wouldn't want to be equated with that?
Any why Ron Paul--why not Mike Hucksterbee--he used to BE a blimp?
I'd have to say this is a bit of a hatchet job. Asking someone to explain their support for something that wasn't publicly known until AFTER they endorsed... Also, isn't hating blacks part of the libertarian platform...? Hate Taxes, Blacks, & Laws...?
Reminds me of Hindenburg
Paultards showed up at my house Saturday. I chased them off with a broom.
And what about the Skull and Boner in Chief? If they ask him if he agrees with any of Ron Paul's philosophy, he's liable to respond that he agrees with the pro-life positions of Popes Ron Paul and Ron Paul II.
This makes Peter much less cute. 60-70% less, in fact. Now if he'd just show us those pecs he's so famous for, perhaps we'd forgive him. C'mon, Pete...we just want to see them for a quick second. Think of it as Con-pec-ssional. :)
Walter Williams is a great Libertarian.

@mcas: word
Ron Paul does not care about black people.
Come on Nicholas - you gotta give him a fair go. P-Squad supports Ron Paul's economic policies... He never knew Paul had published this crap - If there's some thing you can categorically say about Peter - he may be consumed by economic prosperity (or as us peasant folk call it... Greed). But if you're hinting he's racist - not a chance (I'm pretty sure his former love life's a testament to that).
On a related note - I love Valleywag ATM... But can't we have a saucy sex scandal or something. The 'Geek Love' tag is looking decidedly barren right now.
Is MCAS referring to the Libertarian Party or to libertarian political thought? They are not the same. In fact, most libertarians do not identify with the Libertarian Party. I wasn't even aware that the Libertarian Party is racist until MCAS pointed it out. Or is he suggesting that all libertarians are racist?
C'mon guys... The Libertarian Party doesn't hate blacks, or any race for that matter. If anything, it's pro-minority for its stance on opening the borders for immigration and establishing steps for citizenship for illegal immigrants.
For the record, the Libertarian Party wants to end affirmative action and establish a meritocracy so the most qualified person gets the job- period.
The only position that Ron Paul has that is against Libertarian values is his pro-life stance on abortion.
Next time try and educate yourselves before jumping to conclusions.
